This is the title of my PhD dissertation.
This website was slowly developed, in order to make thought, unfolding, more accessible. Currently, I see this as a more viable route than the traditional book format.
This project was not written to be read linearly, which is why the reader is encouraged to travel through the project by following its hyperlinks. A linear version does exist, and it can be followed by using the [[00 Table of contents]]. To start at the “beginning” please see [[02 Introduction to the Poltergeist]]. If you want to follow the thesis in “order” please follow the chapter logic indicated in the drop-down list to your left (000, 001, 002, etc.). Otherwise, random-access in non-linear order is encouraged.^[This is not a random choice. Seeing patterns that are rather abstract depends on comparing things that seem, initially, uncomparable. This is best done non-linearly, and randomly. Someone who has promoted this ap•oach to learning and exploring is, for example, Donald Knuth (in TAOCP), and elsewhere. While order can be magical, it can also discourage curiosity and novelty.]
If you want the **pdf** version of the dissertation, please see: [[0 The Poltergeist in the Machine]].
The following points remain plans for now, but if technically possible, readers will be able to comment on the work, too. They will also have ability to select a word (e.g., “reason” and replace it for “cognition” — or whatever the person feels is their preferred term). This is meant to lead to conceptual novelty, interdisciplinary insights, and it puts language-modulation (see: [[Language-modulating]]) to work. LLM-integration was an idea, but I have abandoned after becoming disillusioned, disappointed and bored with the trend.
A lot of interactive images (e.g., we are working on [[NRU]] interactive diagrams right now) will be added as well, these are currently in the making. The idea is that this work progresses as an extension beyond the traditional functionality of the dissertation by becoming hyperlinked; permanently updated; and interactive (other dynamic affordances might be added in the future).
Because it is an eternally-updated work (so long as I care to do so), some notes are work-in-progress, or _out of order_.[^1] You will sometimes notice #todo tags because of this, indicating that those sections are considered unfinished.
Please see also the “Publications” heading under [[ᦓ. ᦔꫀ ꠹ꪖᧁꫀ᥅]] for articles and other published outputs in a chronological and/or public order, as well as the 003 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐚-𝐚𝐜𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐜 𝐭𝐞𝐱𝐭 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 folder ([[000 About para-academic TPs]]) for more anarchic outputs.
If you want to leave anonymous feedback, it is more than welcome, and can be placed [here](https://pad.riseup.net/p/poltergeistfeedback-keep). If you prefer to contact S. de Jager or Zorro Fork via email please see [[contact]].

[^1]: OOO: one of the reasons this website ends in _ooo_ is meant as a reflection on/joke about this effect. The “out of order” connotation was pointed out by Luuk Stellinga when I mentioned the website’s URL was meant to imply the _negation of the negation_ (n-o = ~~no~~), as a progressive, abysmal scream into nothingness: “noooo...”. It is, of course, also a no(o)d to the noosphere.
