Meditation can be many things.
We generally refer to most things meditative as the tuning of attention: modulating the experience of time/prediction towards specific states.
These can be (but are not limited to): a deeply somatically-aware experience (“taking” the “mind” to one’s right “toe”), shortening or lengthening predictive states, chanting and repeating (as inner monologue or externalized vocalization), doing nothing, nothing doing, etc.
