the tech we use is BASED on distracting you, gambling, etc.
find ways for it to work _for you_
working in groups motivates focus because of collective intentionality: do not distract yourself, get inspired by working together with others on _the same_ task

From Patricia’s email:
The deliverables of this module are to prepare a 2-3 page document outlining the core research questions, whilst mapping the general context and relevance of the topic, imagined methodologies, plus early-research bibliography. Last year we introduced as well the need for an annotated bibliography of 7-10 items in particular, which ultimately serves as their summer reading list. This document serves as the basis for the second year, and is evaluated at the end of the year.
I believe we should be able to manage this module in 6 sessions, and I propose the following sequence (open to your suggestions of course!)
**- Session 1 - Sonia: Research 'fractalization' question, emphasizing writing tools, as you've already done the obsidian WS with them. We really need to hammer home that their second year project is driven by questions, not ready-made 'statements' they want to confirm**
- Session 2 - Patricia: Anatomy of a thesis (review/analysis/deconstructing past DAE MA Theses), as well as mapping thesis Guidelines, annotated bibliography, setting up a media archive of support material
- Session 3 - Gijs: Research methods (suggestion)
- _A small break of a few weeks for students to reflect/compile for the next session_
- Session 4 - Patricia: Students here present their intuitions regarding the direction of their topic, through some sort of mind-mapping
- Session 5 - Gijs: One-on-one mentoring
- _A small break of a few weeks for students to submit a draft/G+P to read drafts_
- Session 6 _-_ Gijs + Patricia: Two-on-one mentoring session
- Research Proposal Submission May 30.
